The car I would put it in would be a 70’s type muscle car like the 1970 chevelle. The Chevelle would have a manual transmission and would weigh about 3500 lbs. The motor would be the non-racing version of the 572 big block and it would be carbeurated.

I don’t think you’d have great gas mileage with a 572 big block. Also, I don’t wanna sound like a knob, but the ‘70 Chevelle has been done to death–was done to death years ago. Sadly, I still see grown men get wood over these things. Yeah, it had a 454, yeah it was uber-fast, but in regards to looks, it wasn’t really all that spectacular, especially when you look at something like a ‘66 or ‘67 Chevelle.
If you’re going to do up a Chevy from the 70s, I’d find something like a ‘78-’79 Monte Carlo or Malibu. A big block will fit under the hood quite nicely, and they’re lighter than what was out there in the early ’70s, almost the same weight as the first generation Camaros. But a 572 and a Muncie Rock Crusher four-speed will let the fur fly–I figure you’d get maybe ten miles to the gallon if you put a big toilet-type carburetor on there like a Holley double-pumper or something like that.

the non-race version gets 8-12 mpg while the race version gets 4-7 mpg.

my friend has the 700+ horsepower version on his nova. with the blower he gets about 2-3 miles per gallon. without the blower it was all the way up to 4. if you are considering this option gas mileage shouldnt be a concern.

3500 lbs is a dream in that car with that engine, but you’re looking at 10 miles per gallon

I have built a motors similar to the 572 in the past, and the honda tuner is pretty much right.
The only thing I would do would be to run the motor on E-85 to save money on race gas.
