This is a big deal. The United States economy could make Formula 1 huge, why give up? I understand that F1 is not very popular in the U.S., but it just seems wrong with what the country has done for the sport in the past.

zshynopy, it’s wrong to say that americans hate F1. I love F1 and yes, I’m from the states! Back to the question, Bernie and Tony George have failed to come to an agreement to keep the track on the calendar, but it has been reported recently that Tony and Bernie are in talks of bringing the GP back to Indy in 2009 and they are now looking for a major sponsor to sponsor the race. There have also been talks of hosting the USGP at different circuits such as Leguna Seca, New York, and Las Vegas. The USGP did start off great, but after the disasterous events that took place in ‘05 (and I was there), basically caused the spectators to lose interest in the race (but as a sport in general, I’m not sure;depends on the person’s point of view). I for one haven’t lost interest in the sport at all and I agree that it’s sad that it’s not popular here!

The total ***hole Bernie doesn’t think we need one…..Boy he is wrong…WE NEED F1 in the US!!!!!! and yes this Nascar fan loves F1…Go Mclaren in 08..

I think it’s safe to say it’s all about the money. Indy isn’t getting HUGE government subsidies like Singapore or Malaysia. The fact that Bernie chooses races based solely on his pocketbook can be seen in his constant pursuit to rid Formula One of a British Grand Prix. But to be honest I never cared for the Indy track, and have been to both Montreal and Suzuka instead.

They lost their contract with Indy and George.

we don’t need F1 here, we have a much more exciting racing racing series here called NASCAR.

what has the usa done for F1? I for one wont miss Indy
January 1st 2009
Well i think its because its not popular in the states after that incident at the 2005 race. They had also lost there contract with the circuit. There is talk of one in 2009 but since the us isnt really into formula1 and lack of support ofr it it looks like there wont be one for a while.

Bernie doesn’t want one there. The USA was never really an F1 nation and turnout at races isn’t taht fantastic. I guess people still can’t forget the Indy fiasco of 2005.
What’s more, more and more countries are vying for a spot on the F1 calendar. Some venues will have to be axed to make way and it happends that the US GP is one of them. But some people are saying taht F1 could return to the US in LAs Vegas

Cuz Bernice likes to leverage GPs against each other for more money. Yes F1 can live without the US and definetely vice-versa. But there are still a lot of F1 fans in the US and given the right venue, I think it would be immensely successful. I would prefer a different track than Indy though.

It is all Bernie’s fault. This guy is so rich already, and he still wants more.
I mean, come on! How old are? 90! You are going to be gone, anyways.
Let US GP be in, man.
