…last word on this project, that apparently the project has been turned down, over at Paramount, for reportedly being too risque and over-the-top, for general audiences; kinda makes one wonder what exactly Paramount was expecting, baring at least some knowledge of the original 1980 film. I suspect that they were looking for something that was going to draw a larger audience, hence more money to be gotten, rather than just appealing to this type of film’s ready-made cult audience…..
…..I am somewhat surprised that the filmmakers didn’t go over to Columbia/Tri-Star/Sony, for their approval, as they were the ones who distributed the original film, as well as the lackluster sequel, “Heavy Metal 2000″; it has been suggested that perhaps Lionsgate might be the more appropriate venue, as they seem to be the one player in the game, these days, who relishes the opportunity to take chances, and push boundaries……
