In a drag race - the Cobra.
In a long distance road race - the Ferrari.

I think the Cobra would be faster in a drag race because it would have a bigger engine, but Ferrari would take the curves better in any kind of road race.

Which classic Ferrari and which classic Cobra?
Drag race or street race?
In February 1963, Cobra was entered in its first international race at Daytona. It was no match for the Ferrari GTO, which won. A month later four Cobras competed at Sebring. Again, Ferrari won, but a Cobra in the hands of Phil Hill set the fastest lap for GT cars.
Despite Ford’s refusal to sponsor a team effort for an assault on the most prestigious 24-hour endurance race of all, Le Mans, Shelby managed to field two cars with the help of his chassis mentor, AC Cars. One car finished a respectable seventh (behind six Ferraris).
Shelby’s biggest victory over Ferrari came in 1965 with the more aerodynamic coupe version of the open roadster. Dressed in blue and sporting a pair of white stripes, the Cobra Daytona Coupe snatched the World Manufacturers Championship from Ferrari. Along with toppling Ferrari, the coupe became the first American car to claim the title of World GT Champion.
Without the Daytona Coupe, Cobra’s legacy would be quite limited—at least in terms of racing success. The roadster took its share of successes on short courses in the U.S. And on the streets of America, the Cobra roadster was probably the single most impressive car around. But the world acclaim that Cobra has garnered is also a direct result of the racing successes of the short-lived coupe.

Hi JulieDuke, (of Hazzards??)
Being partial to probably one of the greatest sports car ever made, I definately would go with the Carrol Shelby Cobra. The 1964 with the 427 cubic inch motor pumping out 485 horses, is without a doubt, THE MONSTER!
The key word though in your question is “classic,” there are some smaller engines in some earlier Cobra’s that would give the edge to the Ferrari.
In essence, BIGGER IS BETTER.
Racers, start your engines!!!!
