I’m fairly new to watching the F1 phenomenon and I was wondering… Is Lewis Hamilton doing that GREAT, or is it because he’s driving the MCLAREN MERCEDES… Would he be as good in diff. equipment or is this alot like NASCAR where the equipment almost makes the driver. He’s now leading the points, as the youngest driver to ever do so in F1, and has finished top-3 in every F1 start. Is he the next GREAT THING in F1?

While McLaren Mercedes is ‘top-line’ equipment, you still need a driver to make it work. Overall this year, he has won a race in Toronto just last month and finished in the top six in all races he has entered this year. Those who folllow F1 closely are calling him the equivalent to Tiger Woods in golf from a F1 standpoint. I wish him well in F1! All he needs to do is keep racing, keep winning and avoid getting into accidents.

I can’t deny that Hamilton is a great driver, but I think that team support means a lot in his case. He has great mechanics, the best car (ok, this may be because Ferrarri’s cars stink this season), and he’s a Briton in a British team…

Well,he is driving same car as Alonso but have much better result though he is rookey!So he is fantastic driver who can beat all records in F1.

The fact is that Hamilton is doing GREAT because he is a really talented driver,but don’t forget also that he is in a great car this year who has 35 p. advantage.
He is not a sensation because he has been testing Mclaren since 2003!

he is doing great, believe. he won the GP2 last year. he has been sponsored by McLaren for a long time, but if Ron didn’t think he could handle the car then he would be testing this season, not driving. he would not be leading the world championship if he was driving a spyker, but rest assured he would be making an impression.

Yeah, rookie on podium every time in races. winner of 2 in a row. faster than world champ in virtually same car. got to see him at indy last weekend. he’s going to be the best. he handles the car really well. very steady. like to see him in the rain though or with an inferior team like ferrari.

Enough about Hamilton already!!
He’s an ok driver. He’s doing well cos he’s in a good car. Try putting him in a Super Aguri or some shit like that, and see what he can do?!
Let’s all just calm down, wait till the end of the season before raving about him! Only then, you can really tell if he is GREAT! But one thing I’m thankful for - Hamilton is kickin Alonso’s butt right back to Spain!

Lewis is the first black driver in F1 history. He is the best rookie F1’s ever had. So far, he’s finished all the races this year on the podium and scored TWO wins. That is a very impressive performance considering that this is only his first year in F1. He has even outqualified his two-time world champion teammate Fernando Alonso.
The thing is, to achieve success in F1 requires both men and machine. This means, there is no way a good driver can do well in a bad car and neither can a bad driver do well in a good car. Of course though, a driver that’s really good and has the talent can always make the best out of any car given.
There has always been a question mark in everyone else’s head, about whether Lewis is really that spectacularly amazing or whether it’s mostly because of the car. Because the McLaren car is known as one of the best cars this year. But either way that you look at it, there is no way that Lewis is doing an amazing job solely because he has good car or solely because he is a great driver. In other words, his great race results are because of the car and also him. But I think it’s probably because he is a naturally gifted driver with the right race strategies and therefore, makes full use of the car given to him (which is a good one and that adds up to why he can get such amazing race results).
In my opinion, he is already the GREAT THING in F1. He seems to get better and better in each race and he’s even chalked up TWO wins! What’s more, those wins were back-to-back wins. Plus, he seems to be dealing with the huge amount of expectations and pressure from people around him, like the people watching the sport and from his fellow rivals.
And what’s more, his teammate Alonso seems to be unable to handle the pressure and accept the fact that Lewis is constantly outdoing him. In fact, there are rumors that Alonso wants to leave McLaren because he feels ‘uncomfortable’. So, that just gives Lewis more reason to smile besides at the possibility of being a world champion this year.
