he young and he got a race seat STRAIGHT AWAY!!!! with one of the best teams in F1, McLaren. in his first year, he almost won the world championship, and he is young, and he is also (correct me if im wrong) the first black (for want of a better word) driver in F1

His dad’s money made him famous,
racing is not in his blood,unlike other drivers who have struggled and came to F1 to become heroes!

Well he started in Formula 1 last season, last season? i think so. ummm he is so popular because he jumped right up in the ranks and almost won the F1 championship in his rookie season. He now races in McLaren with Hekki Kovalinen. He is once again a championship contender along with Felipe Massa. And he is also the first black man to ever race in formula 1

He started young doing the standard go-kart circuit and GP etc, I think he met the mclaren Ron Dennis when he was 8 or 10 and said he wanted to join Mclaren. Ron kept an eye on him and helped him with some sponsoring later on when had proved he could race.
He is popular becuase he got such a great team for his first season and pushed 2 time world champion Alonso so much. I think everyone has been impressed with how good a driver he was from the start and he isn’t quite and cold like most drivers.

Lefty - to say someone is black is ok. His father is black and his mother is white.
Scarlet - we’ve seen your racist diatribe before, so whenever there is a question on Lewis I, for one, generally ignore you.
Lewis came thru the usual karting route, got spotted at a young age by McLaren and nurtured.
I remember seeing him in his early teens in the wet in karts…his mastery behind the wheel was sublime and he made his competition look rudimentaryto say the least.

Have a look at the link below to see Lewis racing when he was just 13, but more importantly listen to what the commentator thinks of him. It is all very complimentary. There are many other videos on you tube which document the rise of Lewis’ career.
He was able to do all this because his father, who supported his career, worked 3 jobs in the earlier days to fund it.
Thanks to his racing success, Lewis was able to meet Ron Dennis at a motorsport awards evening when we has young. Lewis, bold as you get, walked up to him and said he wanted to drive for McLaren when he was older. Ron watched his career develop and offered a commitment to support him providing he focused on his school work as well as his racing.
To quote Michael Schumacher “You make your own luck” - and that is what Lewis has done.

Lewis Hamilton:
He has been racing karts since a young age- 8 i belive- and his father asked him seriously if this was the career for him- he said it was and he worked tirelessly to help his son achieve his dreams. F1 dads are notoriously as driven as their sons.
He met Ron Dennis- boss of the McLaren team he drives for- at the Autosports awards dinner when he was 12 years old and proclaimed that he would like to drive for him and win a championship in his cars. charmed by his confidence, Ron took him under his wing and nurtuted his talent through the ranks. He won the GP2 title in 2006- I think he may have been a runner up the previous year, but not sure- and he was promoted to the McLaren race team in 2007 making hm the first black driver in the sports history.
He had a pretty good start to his F1 career with 5 consecutive podium finishes and ended up joint second in the standings with his more illustrious team mate - double world champion Fernando Alonso. There was a very public falling about between the two which saw a lot of people see him in a selfish light nad McLaren favouring their ‘baby’ (not me I may add).
Whatever your opinion of all that argument from last season, he is still with the team and leading the championship from Felipe Massa by 7points
He is odds on to win the championship this year and has a good family to keep him grounded. He is dating Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls- which makes a few blokes hate him even more and drives a Mercedes GL when he’s going about his day in his tax exile home in Switzerland.
Thats as much as I know off the top of my head.

Lewis Hamilton, like most drivers started his career in racing by karting at a young age. From there he worked his way up into higher racing serieses (what’s the plural for series?). In 2006 he was GP2 champion (that’s the F1 feeder series). Then in 2007, he joined Formula 1 with team McLaren Mercedes and…
in his rookie year completely blitzed the track. Win after win… coming really close to the more experienced F1 drivers… giving them a run for their money. And as a result, finished 2nd in the 2007 world Championship. Amazing feat for a rookie… taht’s why he’s so famous
